Engagement Fellowship - Cities, States and Regions
Who you are
- You are passionate about state and public authority sustainability and climate action—particularly in mitigation and adaptation efforts, and green infrastructure projects
- You believe that there is significant potential in unleashing the power of action in states and regions and public authorities.
- You are familiar with the roles that states and public authorities play in climate action
- You come up to speed quickly and independently with technical information (such as emissions targets or sector-specific public authority indicators)
- You can identify, analyze, and visualize data sets in the form of Excel and/or other database and presentation modalities with emphasis on impact, financial and justice/equity indicators.
- You are outgoing with a personable attitude—superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and follow up via phone and email
Your day-to-day
- You will conduct outreach and provide guidance and support to secure participation in CDP States and Regions and new Public Authorities annual disclosure through “cold call” phone calls and email support to state and provincial governments and public authorities in U.S. and Canada to ensure all participants complete and submit the questionnaire by the requisite deadline
- You will cultivate, manage, and track relationships with state and public authority-based staff and leadership
- You will maintain and update an internal database for all U.S. and Canada states and public authority contacts
- You will support disclosure-related activities including initial meetings, standard and custom webinars, guidance review, relationships with affiliated organizations and associated Authority trade bodies.
- You will support state and authority staff in understanding and utilizing the full services of CDP’s programs in addition to disclosure, including:
- Matchmaker program—for city investments
- CDP Accelerator—linking governments and businesses
- Capital Markets – suite of financial opportunities
- Supply Chain – Measuring upstream risk and opportunities
- You will prepare, analyze, and deliver data and insights associated with States and Regions and Public Authorities
Bonus points
- You have an educational background in sustainability, public policy, environmental science, or sustainable finance.
- You have the drive to take ownership and responsibility for particular areas of work while collaborating well with team members in-person and virtually
- You have the ability to spot trends and opportunities as well as focus on details
- You have the desire and ability to improve and streamline processes to better and more efficiently achieve program goals, rather than follow the status quo
- You have the ability to meet deadlines under pressure; self-motivated and willingness to be flexible (you will be working with teams across different time zones)

- Compensation: The States and Regions & Public Authorities Engagement Fellowship role is paid $15/hour.
- Time Commitment: This is an 8-month part-time fellowship from January – August 2022; starting at 16 hours with potential for increase.
- Logistics: This position can be fully remote; hours can be flexible to accommodate the fellow’s schedule but must fall within Eastern or Pacific Time business hours
