Working with the Dun & Bradstreet Database to improve the request process
Hundreds of organizations request their suppliers, portfolios and other stakeholders report environmental data by responding through the CDP questionnaire every year. To ensure these requests reach the right organization and that we build the most accurate and comprehensive database of environmental information, CDP is working with the Dun & Bradstreet database of over 500 million companies and using DUNS numbers as a unique identifier.
Below is a summary of how the process for building a Request list will work in the CDP Portal.
Supply Chain Members, Banks, Private Markets and other requesters can build their Request lists directly in the CDP Portal. Copy from a previous cycle and add from over 500 million organizations in the CDP and Dun & Bradstreet databases. You should start to pull together names, country and registered office address of the new organizations you'd like to request. You can use the search functionality in CDP's new Portal to search for them.
Requesters can either add an email for each organization while creating the Request list or send your organizations the Register to Disclose form, after you have submitted your list.
When you add contact details to your Request list, you will need to confirm that the individuals are expecting to be contacted by CDP and you are in compliance with applicable data protection regulations. CDP will invite your organizations to register and connect them directly to the request for their organization.
Once all the organizations in your list have DUNS numbers, you can download your list to update all key fields before reimporting. Please make sure you save as a CSV file before reimporting.
You can submit your lists from 14 May, 2024 via CDP's Portal.
Please submit your initial Request list as early as possible and no later than June 3, 2024. Before you submit it, please ensure it includes at least 90% of the companies you want to request and that for any organizations for which you have not added contacts in your list, you have a plan to either add them manually or invite them to disclose via the register to disclose form.
We ask that you pay extra care to ensure your lists are as accurate as possible when you first submit, as you can only bulk import once, and after that, every update will need to be done manually.
If needed, requesters can edit their list after submitting it but not all late requests will be added. Additionally, users can download the list for offline editing and re-upload it to the Portal.
The Request list submission deadline is 13 August, 2024.
