Associate, Legal Counsel
Who you are
- You are passionate about mitigating the climate crisis, reducing deforestation, and improving water security- and know the solutions require a strong legal function.
- You are excited about working in an international and multi-cultural setting as well as across time zones.
- You have 5+ years’ relevant in-house or relevant law firm
- You are barred in at least one state and the ability to obtain in-house registration in New York
- You demonstrate excellent judgement and have absolute integrity
- You have excellent engagement and communication skills, and an ability to condense complex issues into clear and compelling messaging.
- You are a strong legal writer.
- You are a self-starter with an ability to come up to speed quickly and independently
- You are proficient with MS Office 365
- You can be calm and professional under pressure
Your day-to-day
- You will support the General Counsel and Legal Teams in delivering first class, cost-effective legal services to the organization
- You will work across Legal, Compliance, and Stakeholder teams to ensure process compliance with applicable U.S. and international laws and regulations, in close collaboration with cross functional teams
- You will draft, negotiate, and review commercial contracts (e.g. terms & conditions, data licenses, SaaS contracts, NDAs, partnership agreements, MOUs etc.) and grant agreements
- You will provide considered and digestible legal advice on a wide range of in-house legal issues
- You will work with outside counsel on specialist areas as necessary
- You will develop processes to ensure compliance with legal obligations
- You will help to build processes for the efficient provision of advice to colleagues across the organization, including implementing new ways of working, improving existing precedents and developing new ones and providing training to colleagues outside the Legal team
- You will collaborate and galvanize policy teams with key national and subnational policymakers, authorities, and agencies.
- You will help collate and coordinate policy activities across all of our stakeholders – corporations and supply chains, capital markets, and cities, states, and regions – to ensure clarity and consistency in our collective policy messaging and engagement.
- You will regularly track and analyze legal developments

- Compensation. The salary range for the Associate Legal role is $95,000 – $98,000.
