Climate change and nature loss will undermine food systems, physical assets, infrastructure and habitats. They are both material to business and investments.
While the greatest climate-related risk for financial institutions lies within their portfolios, there are also vast opportunities within the transition to a more sustainable future.
Climetrics helps investors identify funds backing companies leading the way in disclosing and managing environmental issues. These include greenhouse gas emissions, water scarcity and deforestation.
By using Climetrics, investors can support the movement to a low carbon economy and encourage companies to reduce their environmental impacts and risks.
Climetrics is more than a tool - it’s part of a vision for a more sustainable financial system.
Climetrics now partners with Clarity AI for improved fund calculations and data distribution. Clarity AI is a leading sustainability tech platform, offering custom ESG data and services to a wide range of users.
The new partnership has increased Climetrics’ coverage and gives individual investors and users of Climetrics more choice when comparing funds.
Users now have better and more automated access to Climetrics data through the Clarity AI platform.
Climetrics has also updated its methodology. Our fund assessment has been refined by removing two sub-components: the asset manager score and the fund investment policy score.
These criteria became less relevant as the fund industry experienced a significant increase in sustainable products and initiatives in the last few years. The available data did not allow for a clear differentiation of funds based on these aspects.
The Climetrics methodology is dynamic and we are continually looking to incorporate new features to provide the most accurate assessment of funds' environmental performance.
Our clients want to understand the link between climate change and their investments. With CDP’s high-quality data behind it, the Climetrics rating allows us to provide trusted ratings which help them to make climate-friendly investment decisionsOlof Neiglick, Head of Equities, Swedbank
Climetrics is a rating system that assesses the environmental performance of investment funds. It scores thousands of companies in the areas of GHG emissions, protection of water resources, and deforestation, and assigns a rating to each fund based on the weighted average score of its holdings.
The ratings range from 1 to 5, with 5 indicating the highest environmental performance relative to all other funds in the available universe.
Climetrics leverages data and research from CDP and Clarity AI, collectively two leading providers of environmental, social and governance (ESG) information. The ratings are updated regularly using Clarity AI's fund database.

Climetrics currently evaluates about 23,000 funds primarily in the equity and corporate bond asset classes.
Its rating (1-5) reflects a fund’s environmental performance against all other funds in the available universe (best-in-universe approach). An A leaf ranking of 5 is the best.
Typically, the higher the rating, the more the fund invests in companies with better environmental transparency & performance and/or in companies that offer climate-friendly products. Higher rated funds are also less exposed to companies involved in fossil fuel extraction or non-renewable power generation.
The peer group rating (1-4) shows how the fund compares against funds in the same market or specific segment of that market. A peer group rank of 1 means that the fund is among the best 25% within its market.
Results are updated monthly. All ratings are as of October 2024.

1. The fund universe and all static fund data is provided by Clarity AI.
2. The peer group ranks are based on the Clarity AI classification system. For a fund to be assigned a peer group rank, at least 10 funds in its peer group must have a Climetrics score.
