Lenovo

Global technology company Lenovo launched its supplier emissions reduction program in 2022. The aim of the program is to help suppliers reduce their emissions in alignment with Lenovo’s net-zero roadmap.

Through the program, Lenovo requires its suppliers to disclose their emissions through CDP, develop emissions inventories, set climate targets – ideally those aligned to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – and take concrete actions to reduce their emissions.

To help suppliers at different stages of their climate journey, Lenovo uses a tiered approach, prioritizing support and collaboration based on each suppliers’ maturity in managing emissions, their impact, and their readiness to take meaningful climate action across the supply chain.

In 2024, Lenovo’s CDP supplier response rate was 98%, ranking among the top 5% in the world. Around 70% of participating suppliers report Scope 3 data. To support the remaining 30%, the company has introduced CDP training sessions and one-to-one meetings.

The benefits of engagement are clear:

  • 96% of Lenovo’s suppliers by spend now have public greenhouse gas reduction goals;

  • 72% have public renewable energy goals; and

  • 95% are tracking and reporting renewable energy generation and purchases.
