The State of Lower Austria supports communities in the implementation of their Greenhouse Gas emission reduction targets. The Environmental Community Service (Das Umwelt-Gemeinde-Service) is a special information hub which provides detailed information and tools that are adapted to the municipalities' current needs in climate protection and environmental policy.
The platform is the first point of contact for all energy, climate, nature, and environmental issues for Lower Austrian municipalities and is managed by the Energy and Environment Agency of the State of Lower Austria, supported by the Lower Austria Climate Alliance and the Lower Austria Region, and partially funded by the EU. The platform’s fields of action are climate change adaptation, climate protection, nature and soil, mobility, water, spatial planning, energy, buildings and renovation and e-mobility.
The main services provided include funding advice for municipalities, support in sustainable procurement, support for raising awareness among citizens, access to independent advice for sustainable mobility solutions and energy consulting services.
The platform provides targeted assistance to those municipalities interested in implementing environmental policies by offering guidance and suggestions, information about best practices and access to the energy and climate check, a tool that enables municipalities to understand their current situation regarding climate protection and to identify potential solutions.
