The rate of disclosure to CDP is increasing every year. In 2024, we are working with 700+ financial institutions representing US$142+ in assets, and over 340 purchasing organizations with an annual spend of $6.4 trillion, to ask that companies disclose. In 2023, the number of companies disclosing globally to CDP hit more than 23,000 – up 24% from 2022.
Many companies, cities, states and regions will be looking for additional support to not only improve their reporting but also take the next steps on their environmental journey. To provide this expertise and help organizations transition to environmental leadership, CDP established the Accredited Solutions Provider (ASP) program over a decade ago, working with leading environmental service providers around the world. In 2024, CDP is introducing a new, streamlined Portal along with a new questionnaire for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), as well as presenting disclosing organisations with an integrated questionnaire for the first time. We also recently expanded our scope to cover plastics and biodiversity in the questionnaire.
We have improved our ASP Program to ensure a diverse network of partners able to provide support to all disclosing entities –including SMEs – on all the topics included within our questionnaires.
As part of these improvements, we are excited to announce three exciting new areas of accreditation:
1. SMEs – for providers with expertise in supporting SMEs.
Accounting for approximately 50% of global emissions and 90% of global business, it is crucial that SMEs are equipped with the knowledge, tools and resources required to commit to and accelerate climate action, while ensuring long-term business viability – and this is where the support of CDP SME accredited providers will be vital.
2. Plastics – for providers with expertise in helping companies reduce their plastics footprint.
Robust data will be of critical importance for the UN Global Plastics Treaty currently being negotiated, and CDP Plastics accredited providers will be crucial in supporting companies to collect this data and disclose it to CDP. Almost 3,000 companies across the global economy - worth $25 trillion in market capitalization and covering every region and sector - disclosed their plastics data to CDP in 2023.
3. Sustainable finance – for providers with expertise in supporting financial institutions (FIs) to disclose to CDP and/or set science-based targets.
-
With nearly 600 FIs reporting to CDP last year and more expected this year, CDP sustainable finance accredited providers will provide crucial support to this audience.
-
Solutions providers can build a bespoke partnership showcasing all their areas of environmental expertise and highlighting the types of stakeholder they can support – be that the private sector, public sector, SMEs or financial institutions.
-
