Missing the Mark, a recent report from CDP and Oliver Wyman, states that current G7 private sector GHG emissions reductions targets are aligned with a dangerous 2.7°C global temperature increase. Even in Europe, where progress on target-setting since 2020 has ‘cooled’ the economy by 0.3°C, to 2.4°C, a lack of corporate ambition leaves us on course for global warming far beyond 1.5°C — the upper temperature limit that science demands to avoid the most catastrophic environmental impacts. Science-Based Targets (SBTs) provide a clearly defined pathway to align your organisation’s emissions to the 1.5°C limit, future-proofing growth and spurring competitive advantage. Over 3,000 businesses globally have already demonstrated their environmental leadership by setting an SBT, and as CDP continues to develop our roster of expert Accredited Solutions Providers, your organisation now has more support available than ever to set and achieve ambitious Science-Based Targets.
This month, we are excited to announce that EY has come on board as a global gold climate change consultancy and SBT solutions provider. EY helps businesses plan for their net zero transition. They leverage climate insight from their Climate Change and Sustainability Services practice and bring together a multidisciplinary team across supply chain, law, tax, technology, finance, people management, and strategy and transactions.
We are also delighted to announce that Aither, a silver climate change consultancy and SBT solutions provider in Italy, has renewed their partnership with CDP and will continue to support companies on their environmental journeys. Aither helps businesses reduce their environmental footprint and generate revenue. Together with global partners in the industrial, aviation, and shipping sectors, they build a path to sustainability – harnessing opportunities to source renewable energy, optimise energy efficiency, and positively impact the environment.
